My Korean Food Craving: Jang Mo Jib

Annyeong Ha Sae Yo!

I guess it's about time I share the love I have for Korean food, which came to be only because I absolutely love watching Korean drama. They not only offer great romance comedy series, their food is often showcased and almost always looks enticing. From Kimchi Fried Rice, Black Bean Noodle, to Korean Beef Stew - I wanted to try them all! And believe me, I craved for months as there isn't a lot of Korean restaurants in Manila (that I know of) and my friends aren't really into Korean food. Either reason, I didn't get to eat Korean food whenever I wanted to.

Though things take time before they happen, they still happen if you think and wish about it enough. As you all might have read already, I made a Korean friend and of course, I just HAD to ask her to take me to a good Korean restaurant. So first thing we did after I stayed over at her place was to go to Jang Mo Jib in downtown Vancouver to fill our hungry tummies.

I fell in love.. with Kam Ja Tang or in English, Pork Bone Soup. It is absolutely delectable.

What I love about it besides its taste (which can be varied to becoming spicy by adding their hot sauce) is that it is served hot-pot style, cooked right in front of you in a mini stove. It stays warm, perfect for the cold weather that Vancouver is enveloped with most of the year. One more thing that I love about Korean restaurants, all dishes are accompanied by their staple appetizers - Kimchi, Seaweeds, and Sweet Potato - served free! And best part, you can ask more seconds or thirds of these appetizers.

And since sharing is caring, I also brought my family over one lunch, and we all had a good time enjoying the goodness that is Jang Mo Jib dishes.

MASHISO!

I have to admit though that their menu is on the luxurious end, a bit pricey, but I guess it's because they come in large sizes meant to be shared. But even though that's the case, Jang Mo Jib will continue to be our go-to restaurant when our Korean food craving kicks in. And I know it will share many laughs with us as we meet up here for girlfriend dinner dates.

Happy eating! ☺
